Resort & hotel work, food, architecture, and landscape photography are the primary areas of focus for Scott Baker's photography. Prior to moving to Santo Domingo, Scott was photographing professionally in the United States in Atlanta, Georgia.

For more than 20 years, Scott was a marketing professional in the media and tourism industries. Developing advertising campaigns, promotional programs, and media planning were just a few of Scott's many marketing responsibilities.

However, photography has always been his passion and an outlet for creative expression. For many years Scott successfully managed both careers - marketing and photography. In early 2005, Scott decided to retire from marketing full time to focus exclusively on photography.

Scott exclaimed, "I didn't want to awaken at 65 years old and wish I had tried it but didn't. Life is short. I did marketing successfully for many years; now is the time to do something I enjoy so much."

Scott mixes his keen understanding and experience in marketing with his photography to provide outstanding images that are both compelling and "sell".

"I understand what the resorts need. They want to put "heads in beds" and promote their unique services. It is vitally important to have a beautiful photograph that represents the resort or development but it is equally important to have a photograph that also "sells". I have that unique understanding that comes from many years as a marketing executive. I utilize my creativity and marketing experience to deliver a stunning photograph that compels the viewer to visit and purchase."

Scott first visited the Dominican Republic many years ago on vacation and recognized the country's beauty. Upon leaving the marketing career behind, Scott embarked on a 5-week photographic journey of the Dominican Republic.

Scott visited all areas of the country - from Jimani to Higuey, from Monte Cristi to Las Galeras and all places in between. Scott recognized that the DR is much more than beautiful beaches - the country is full of other natural beauty with cascading waterfalls, alpine forests, lively people, and of course, the richest culture and history in the Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo.

"When I started out on my DR journey, I didn't know what I would discover," Scott explains. "What I found was a fascinating and unique country that most people are unaware of." Scott continues, "The DR is more beautiful than any images I have ever seen. In the USA, I have not seen a large collection of photographs that show the beauty of the country."

During Scott's 5-week journey, he decided to relocate his photography operation here and devote his time to building a high-quality image collection. "I want people to know how wonderful the DR really is. Unfortunately Americans have an uncertain image of the DR or are unfamiliar with the country. Hopefully my photography will open their eyes and change their minds about the country."

While not on assignment, he spends a large amount of time traveling all over the country photographing for his growing stock image collection exclusively of the Dominican Republic.

In addition to the Stock image collection, Scott also offers many of his photographs as Fine Art and has shown his work in fine art galleries in both Atlanta and Los Angeles. Scott's photography hangs on the walls of many photography and art enthusiasts throughout the USA and soon the Dominican Republic.
